An Owly Night Pillar Candle - Handpainted with Henna Design

Just made something new that I am so excited to share!   It's been exquisitely created using 100% henna.

As aside,  I just found out that the gallery I'm going to showcase my work was actually ranked #1 art gallery in Albuquerque, NM.  That's pretty cool!

Showcasing My Work at a Local Gallery!

I'm happy to report that I will be showcasing my work at a local gallery.  Wooden Cow Gallery will be putting my work on display next month.  They loved my work and I am so excited to share my work with the rest of the community.  It's the start of something great.

A Moment to Reflect

Let go of your worries
and be completely clear-hearted,
like the face of a mirror
that contains no images.

If you want a clear mirror,
behold yourself and
see the shameless truth,
which the mirror reflects.

If metal can be polished
to a mirror-like finish,
what polishing might the mirror
of the heart require?

Between the mirror and the heart
is this single difference:  the heart
conceals secrets, while the mirror does not.

The Faces of Helplessness

Author Tracy Kidder wrote a phenomenonal book some years ago, entitled "Mountains Beyond Mountains".  The book documents 20+ years of work of Dr. Paul Farmer in Haiti.  Dr. Farmer is the founder of Partners In Health.

It is a worthy cause that needs our support.  Here is a link to a slide show showing the work that is being done and the faces of helplessness:

If you can do anything in this moment, it is to give of what you have.  The saying I love to remind myself as well as you is to give from with your right-hand, meanwhile your left-hand has no idea how much and what you gave.  This, to me is the true spirit of giving!  May you get back double, or triple what you gave.

My Heart is Swirly!

A beautiful golden brown color...
Swirly hearts....
Glowing in the sun....

I'm all about swirls.  To me, they give the feeling of limitless dimensions.  They flow in any given direction.  Don't you wish you could do that in life as well.

I just listed it in my etsy shop (http://www.mehndiart09.etsy.com/).  Custom orders are welcome.  I can do any color background and any size of canvas.  The photos you see are of an 8x10inch canvas.

It's a Quilt, No It's a Painting, No It's Both!

I spent the last few weeks working on this painting.  It's composed of a set of 9 canvases.   Each canvas is 8 x 10 inches.  Each canvas has a different mandala design.  All work was freehand. I didn't use any stencils to make the design.  So you can imagine how hard it was to draw a circle.

Unfortunately, the photo isn't great.  Tell me what you think:

Full of Dust

In a world of complexity, we forget how things happen.  The earth, the moon, the sun, the planet all seems amazing and yet simple too.  So much can go wrong and yet each exists in harmony with each other.  Don't you wish we, as a species, could live in similar harmony.  Often, we make things too complicated, which further distances us from each other.  I'd loved to be as simple as dust.  To go wherever the wind takes me.

I came across a poem that I had to share with you all.  Sadly, I don't know who the author is.

If my essence is from dust,
then dust (wherever it is) is my homeland
And every creature upon the heavens and the
earth represents a close relative.

What does this poem mean to you?  I look forward to reading your comments.

Dare To Be A Dreamer

Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.

- Leon J. Suenes -

When I dream, it's always about my next painting project. For a long time I haven't dreamt anything. I would barely go to sleep and the alarm would suddenly wake me up. These days, I sleep very little. But what I've found is that I'm so refreshed in the morning. I look forward to waking up and seeing the surprise next to my bed. Today, I discovered this candle!

It's handpainted freehand using 100% henna. This flameless candles are not only safe, but it also has a beautiful design.

Dimensions: 2.8 x 4in
Scent: Vanilla flameless pillar candle
